Fatimah + Asif. Married

Last year Fatimah found me online while planning her wedding, she and Asif live in New York so we set up a phone call to chat about their wedding plans and get to know each other better and see if I would be a good fit for their wedding. Finding a photographer that you can vibe with is a big deal. I’m going to be there for your whole day so we want to make sure that we have a comfortable relationship where we can talk and have fun, better yet a friendship because then the wedding day photos will be a blast. Usually, these phone calls are anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour or so. I remember Fatimah and I jumped on the phone one night and talked about everything you could think of and I just knew I wanted to shoot their wedding!

Fatimah and Asif came out in the spring that year and we shot their engagement session in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. We chose to do a sunrise session which did not disappoint one bit. I loved getting to hear about how they met on tinder and what they thought would be a casual friendship turned out to be the ONE.

Fatimah and Asif’s wedding was a mix of a lot of family traditions mixed into one. They found a way to incorporate things that each of their families holds dear and I loved that each family was honored in their wedding, while still making it their own. The night before their wedding Fatimah had a Mehndi Party for her girls where they got together and had their henna done for the wedding the next day. There was Indian food, dancing, and so much fun. Late into the night before the night ended, Asif and the men came and joined for a little bit. I loved being able to be with their family for the weekend and get to know the family a bit, it made the day all the more special.

Here are some of the highlights from the Mehndi Party as well as their Wedding!
